Innovative One Health Approaches for AMR and Pandemic Readiness in Somalia
The 3rd Somali One Health Conference (SOHC 2026) invites researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and students to submit abstracts addressing key challenges and innovations at the human–animal–environment interface.
The conference will bring together experts across public health, veterinary medicine, environmental science, and policy to strengthen health security, food safety, and One Health collaboration.
Conference Subthemes
- One Health Governance, Workforce Development, and Community Engagement
This subtheme focuses on strengthening governance frameworks and institutional coordination across human, animal, plant, and environmental health sectors. It highlights the development of a skilled One Health workforce and community engagement strategies that support effective prevention, detection, and response to health threats.
- Pandemic Preparedness, Integrated Surveillance, and Early Warning Systems
This subtheme explores integrated surveillance and early warning systems that connect human, animal, plant, and environmental health data to detect emerging threats early. It emphasizes preparedness, rapid response mechanisms, and strengthened coordination to prevent and control outbreaks and pandemics.
- Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance and Stewardship
This subtheme addresses the growing challenge of antimicrobial resistance through integrated surveillance across human, animal, plant, and environmental systems. It highlights responsible antimicrobial use, stewardship policies, and collaborative strategies to reduce the spread of resistant pathogens.
- Environmental drivers and Health System Resilience
This subtheme examines how environmental change, climate variability, ecosystem disruption, and agricultural systems influence disease emergence and food safety. It focuses on building resilient health systems capable of adapting to environmental and climate-related health risks.
- Digital Health, Artificial Intelligence, and Innovation for One Health
This subtheme highlights how digital health technologies, artificial intelligence, and innovative tools can improve disease surveillance, data integration, decision-making, and collaboration across the human, animal, plant, and environmental health sectors.
