Community Service: Partnering for Local Impact
We work shoulder-to-shoulder with Somali communities to translate research into tangible change and build resilience from the ground up.
Our Community Engagement Philosophy
We believe communities are experts in their own contexts. Our approach is built on participation, co-creation, and mutual learning. We don’t implement projects FOR communities; we work WITH them to develop solutions that are culturally appropriate, sustainable, and owned by the people they serve.
- Principles of Our Community Work
- Do No Harm: Ensuring our presence and activities don't inadvertently cause harm
- Respect for Local Culture: Honoring traditions, values, and social structures
- Inclusion & Equity: Ensuring all community members have a voice
- Transparency & Accountability: Clear communication about goals, activities, and resources
- Sustainability Focus: Building local capacity for long-term impact
