Prof. Abdalla Ibrahim
Scientific Committee Chair
Prof. Ibrahim is a senior academic leader and One Health researcher with over 25 years in higher education and more than a decade in senior academic administration. Currently serving as Senior Scientist for One Health at ARACHTI, he is widely recognized for advancing interdisciplinary research, academic quality, and research strategy.
His leadership aligns strongly with the SOHC 2026 theme — Innovative One Health Approaches for AMR and Pandemic Readiness in Somalia. Under his scientific guidance, the conference will promote rigorous, cross-sector dialogue and evidence-based solutions to strengthen Somalia’s health security.
Prof. Ahmed Abd El Wahed
Scientific Committee Member
Dr. Abd El Wahed is a globally recognized veterinarian and Head of Laboratory at Leipzig University, Germany. He serves on multiple international scientific and WHO advisory platforms and is the recipient of the EU Leadership Prize 2025. He is also known for pioneering the mobile suitcase laboratory for rapid detection of infectious pathogens in field settings.
Dr. Abd El Wahed pioneered the mobile “suitcase laboratory” for rapid detection of viruses, bacteria, and parasites — a transformative innovation deployed across Africa and Asia that directly supports field-based surveillance, AMR detection, and outbreak readiness.
His expertise in rapid diagnostics, zoonotic diseases, and outbreak preparedness strongly supports the SOHC 2026 theme — Innovative One Health Approaches for AMR and Pandemic Readiness in Somalia.
Dr. Marian Osman
Scientific Committee Member
Dr. Marian is a public health specialist and field epidemiologist serving as a Research Officer at the National Institute of Health, Federal Ministry of Health and Human Services, Somalia. She is also a member of the Somali National Research Ethics Board (SNREB) and Director of the Benadir Institute for Research and Development (BIRD), Benadir University, Somalia. She actively contributes to national and international scientific discourse as a journal editor and reviewer and has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
Her expertise in infectious disease epidemiology, population health, and health systems aligns strongly with the SOHC 2026 theme — 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐌𝐑 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚.
