About the Conference

The Somali One Health Conference 2026 (SOHC 2026) is a high-level scientific and policy platform advancing integrated responses to antimicrobial resistance (AMR), emerging infectious diseases, and pandemic preparedness in fragile and climate-affected settings.

Hosted by the Abrar Research and Training Centre (ARACHTI), SOHC 2026 convenes national and international experts in public health, veterinary medicine, environmental science, epidemiology, global health security, and development policy to strengthen One Health implementation in Somalia and the wider Horn of Africa region.

As more than 75% of emerging infectious diseases originate at the human–animal–environment interface, integrated surveillance systems, antimicrobial stewardship, early warning mechanisms, and coordinated governance are essential to preventing future global health crises.

SOHC 2026 contributes to global efforts aligned with:

  • One Health frameworks
  • Antimicrobial Resistance National Action Plans
  • Global Health Security priorities
  • Climate-sensitive disease preparedness

The conference provides a results-oriented forum for translating research into policy, strengthening cross-sector collaboration, and building resilient health systems in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
